What we have to offer you: * Our faculty consists of an engineer with great credentials, education, certifications, training and experience in solar power and increasingly a wide array of other renewable energy technologies. * We will discuss a detailed, yet simple, off-grid backyard arbor mounted solar power system that is battery backed and can tie into a $300 turn-key sub-panel box separate from your main circuit panel and run even when the grid is down.. this 1 kw complete system can be constructed and assembled for around $3500 total cost. * We will review, hands-on, my backyard arbor with a 240 watt solar panel, enphase micro-inverter, tied directly into a $300 turn key sub-panel box in my garage... adding additional panels and micro-inverters is highly scaleable and quick and easy and this system is grid-tied and reduced your electrical bill each month. Cost, around $500 total per 240 watt panel and micro-inverter. |

* Attendees will be provided a thorough and complete course manual (cited above, a $39.50 value included in the price of
the workshop), hand-outs, and web resources that will enable the more technically saavy to DIY your
own grid tied or battery backed solar power system for your home. * We'll demo the use of a Solar Pathfinder for site evaluation that shows shadow lines for all hours of the day and all months of the year in a single snapshot for placement of a solar array. * We'll perform ROI / pay-off (Return on Investment) calculations for DIY and Installer Based system costs for your power needs as well as leave you templates for other important calculations to understand your system pay-off period based on your electric rates. * We'll also discuss federal and state incentives and rebates that reduce your system costs and pay off period. * Class will pause from 12:00noon to 1:00pm for a lunch break on the backyard deck and around the bon-fire and return for the latter half. |

Registration / Enrollment: Course Fees are $95 per attendee and include a copy of: Photovoltaics -- Design and Installation Manual -- from Solar Energy International (my cost $39.50 + shipping from Amazon) as well as other web based resources. The course instructor is also available for an affordable site evaluation and system design consultation at your home. To keep costs down, Lunch is Pot-Luck -- please bring some food or drink to share although plentiful food and drinks will be supplied as well. Back yard bon-fire and gas grill operational.
